Rising Hill School environment features a small size, blended ages and mixed ability. This is a proven recipe for childhood affirmation and growth. Young children are inspired to try new things, learn from each other and show empathy and belonging in a caring and intimate classroom.
Why try small?
Children don’t understand a low teacher-student ratio. Although preschools must maintain a certain ratio, this is usually done by putting more teachers in the room. This just means more bodies in the room, more noise, more busyness. The best way for a small child to feel safe, secure, seen, and soothed is to have a fewer children.
A noisy, overstimulated classroom creates a need in young children to check if they are seen because their classroom overwhelms their senses. I believe that the best environment for children to thrive is a calm and orderly one, where it is possible for all children to feel seen at all times.
