Hands-on discovery and sustained observation are crucial

Beginning her career almost 25 years ago as a high school art and English teacher, Lynette Wiebe has since worked with children of all ages and in a variety of capacities, from classroom teacher to learning support services to camps and preschools. After moving to Altadena she chartered the Altadena Foothills 4-H Club. Most recently she was a kindergarten teacher at one of Pasadena’s leading private schools. Lynette brings a love of children and a constant curiosity about how humans learn to every educational encounter.

A farm girl from the prairies and a passionate gardener, Lynette knows how crucial hands-on discovery and sustained observation are to developing understanding about the world. Children learn through their five senses and need their eight senses fully functioning to be at their best! For very young students, healthy and balanced physical development, including opportunities for sensory, strength and balance-building, are essential for learning.

Lynette believes…

Mistakes are a chance to learn something new; messes are part of life and especially childhood.

Children are strong, smart and want to learn; they can be responsible, independent, and resilient!

When we learn about others, we learn more about ourselves.

Everyone should be the change they want to see in the world.

Lynette has expertise and particular curiosity in the following areas:

  • Asynchronous learners

  • “Learning by doing”

  • Phonological development and phonics instruction
